The Relevance (Why the course is being taught)
This course equips the student with competences to perform examinations using ultrasound machines to diagnose disease processes in the body. Such disease processes include: obstetrical and gynecological conditions, abdominal diseases, diseases of the heart and vessels, diseases of the muscles, tendons and ligaments, diseases of the brain and spinal cord, eye diseases, thyroid, breast, genitalia and variety of chest diseases. On graduation the cadre is called a sonographer and is on very high demand both within the country and outside. An option of exemptions for those with a Diploma in Medical Radiography exists. The graduate is called Sonographer

A’ level with 2 principle passes Physics, Biology, chemistry or a diploma in a related health field
