Applications for Queen Elizabeth Commonwealth Scholarships now open for 2022 intake

The Queen Elizabeth Commonwealth Scholarships (QECS) offer fully-funded Master’s scholarships to Commonwealth students. Successful applicants can travel to a different country in the Commonwealth, where they can study a variety of courses and benefit from the expertise provided by leading universities. Developing new skills, gaining a qualification and experiencing life in another country benefits both the individual and their home country. 

Fully funded Master’s scholarships are available at member institutions in 13 countries across the Commonwealth including: Bangladesh, Eswatini, Ghana, Kenya, Malaysia, Mauritius, Pakistan, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda and the West Indies (Barbados, Jamaica or Trinidad and Tobago).

In the spirit of experiencing life in another country, please note that this application is only open to non-Ugandans. Ugandans are encouraged to apply for courses offered by universities in other countries.

Application Procedure

  1. Visit the Makerere University’s Admissions URL https://apply.mak.ac.ug and generate a Payment
    Reference Number (PRN) by following the guide below.
  2. Sign up using full name, e-mail and Mobile Number. Please note that your name must be similar to
    the one on your supporting academic documents for your application to be considered valid.
  3. A password will be sent to both your email and mobile number.
  4. The system will prompt you to change the password to the one you can easily remember.
  5. To fill a form, the applicant clicks on the APPLY NOW button displayed on the appropriate scheme
    i.e. QUEEN ELIZABETH COMMONWEALTH SCHOLARSHIPS.
  6. Obtain a payment advice slip by clicking on “Pay for Form” button. This button may only be accessed after the applicant has completing all sections of the form and submitted the application.
  7. Make a payment at any of the following Banks (for applicants who may be in Uganda):
    (a) Stanbic Bank
    (b) Post Bank
    (c) Centenary Bank
    (d) DFCU Bank
    (e) UBA Bank
  8. Download a copy of your filled form and attach scanned copies of your certified academic documents and all other relevant documents. Attach a PDF version of your passport photo and scanned copies of three referees’ letters of recommendation. Click here to download the Referee Letter of Recommendation template.
  9. Email scanned copies of the aforementioned documents to drgt@mak.ac.ug and copy drgtmak@gmail.com.

QECS Applications close on 10 January 2022 at 16:00 (UTC).
