The Uganda National Oil Company Limited (UNOC) Undergraduate Scholarship Academic Year 2023-24

The Uganda National Oil Company Limited (UNOC) was established under the Petroleum (Exploration, Development and Production) Act and the Petroleum (Refining, Conversion, Transmission and Midstream Storage) Act, both in 2013 and incorporated under the Companies Act, 2012.

It is a limited liability company wholly owned by the Government of Uganda. The overall function of UNOC is to handle the State’s commercial interests in the Oil and Gas industry and ensure that the resource is exploited in a sustainable manner.

UNOC acquired an exploration license for the Kasuruban area covering the districts of Buliisa, Masindi and Hoima. As part of our commitment to driving sustainable growth in Uganda's oil and gas sector through the promotion of national participation, UNOC now invites qualified applicants from the districts of Buliisa, Masindi and Hoima to apply for the undergraduate Scholarship Programme.

Eligibility Criteria  (Who Qualifies)
 

1) Ugandan citizens born and residing within Masindi, Hoima or Buliisa Districts.

2) Studied in a school in Masindi, Hoima or Buliisa for at least the past two (2) years prior to application.

3) Completed their secondary education (A-levels) for at most two (2) years prior to the time of application.

4) Obtained admission at one of the participating Universities (Makerere University, Kyambogo University, Mbarara University, Gulu University and Busitema University).

5) Not above 22 years of age.

6) Strong interest in pursuing higher education in fields relevant and related to the oil and gas industry.

7) Demonstrable financial need (financially challenged and cannot afford tuition fees).Demonstrated financial need (financially challenged and cannot afford tuition fees).

8) Not a recipient of any other scholarship or government sponsorship.

9) Applicant should present evidence that he/she comes from one of the districts mentioned above.


An application shall be deemed complete once it contains the following attachments:


a) “O” and “A” level academic documents.
b)  A passport-size photograph.
c) A copy of a birth certificate and/or National Identity Card.
d) A copy of the admission letter from the participating Universities.

The scholarship covers tuition, functional fees, scholastic materials, living expenses, travel costs and internship attachment fees
