The Relevance (Why the course is being taught)

The Bachelor of Science in Anesthesia is a rigorous Undergraduate program designed to prepare students for a Rewarding career in the field of Anesthesia. This program combines theoretical knowledge with practical skills, preparing students to work as vital members of the Healthcare team in Surgical and Critical care settings.

Throughout the program, students participate in laboratory sessions, simulation exercises, and clinical rotations, which provide them with the opportunity to practice implementing theoretical knowledge to real-world situations. They learn to assess patients, create anesthesia plans, administer anesthesia, monitor vital signs, manage pain, and ensure patient safety during surgical procedures. In addition, students receive instruction on skills to cope with Emergencies and complications that may arise during the perioperative period.

The Bachelor of Science in Anesthesia program emphasizes the significance of Ethical practice, critical thinking, teamwork, and effective communication skills. To ensure seamless patient care, students learn to collaborate with other healthcare professionals which include Surgeons, Nurses, and Technicians. They additionally acquire the manner in which to effectively communicate with patients and their families, providing them with essential details, addressing concerns, and to guarantee that they feel at ease.

Course Entry Requirements

Entry Requirements

A- level Entry

UACE (or equivalent) with principal passes in Biology and Chemistry, and a subsidiary in Physics, Mathematics, Agriculture or FDN; plus UCE (or equivalent) with 5 passes;

Diploma Entry

Atleast a diploma in any of the following health disciplines:

Clinical Medicine and Community Health, Medical laboratory Technologist / Scientists, 
Medical Radiography, Physiotherapists, Anaesthetic Officers, Orthopaedic
