The Relevance (Why the course is being taught)

Introduction 

The development of fisheries and aquaculture programme is in line with the University mission of producing skilled manpower for economic development of Uganda.

The programme addresses capture fisheries which depends on wild fish stocks and aquaculture which is the production of acquatic organisms under controlled conditions

Objectives

The overall objectives of the programme is to produce well trained and skilled persons understanding the dynamics of aquatic ecosystems. Graduates of this programme should be able to sustainably utilize aquatic resources for the present and future generations

Where Graduates Work

With a Bachelor of Science in Fisheries and Aquaculture you will be well placed to work in a variety of positions within the industry.

You could join the Ministry of Fisheries, which is responsible for managing our fish stocks, or join one of the many companies who catch the fish we eat or export. Some of these same companies are also involved in the culture of fish or shellfish and the growth of these to a marketable size. You may help develop new products from fish or shellfish.
